The Unit provides support to operational policing in Angus in a variety of areas including event planning, licensing matters, officer training, resource management and general assistance to operational officers as necessary.

Event Planning

The planning of events which require a police presence include football matches, parades, gala type events, highland games and shows. This planning is carried out by the unit which co-ordinates the various police resources required for the events as well as liaising with the event organisers to provide advice and assistance at the planning stage.

Along with the appropriate departments of Angus Council and the other emergency services, a structured approach is taken in order to ensure the safety of the public at these events. Regular meetings are held prior to the events to ensure the best advice and assistance is provided to help the organisers deal with the variety of issues involved in running a public event safely.

Licensing Matters

The Police Licensing Officer deals with the variety of licences for which Tayside Police have a watching brief.
