Carnoustie The coastal town of Carnoustie has a population of approximately 13,000. The policing of the town also extends to encompass the villages of Monikie, Newbigging, Redford, Muirdrum and Easthaven. Famous for its Championship golf course, Carnoustie attracts visitors from around the globe. In recent years the 1999 and 2007 Open Championships were hosted by the town, acknowledging the links course as being one of the world's finest. The Dunhill Links golf tournament is an annual event which plays host to some of the world's best known golfers, pairing them with big names from the entertainment industry, sporting world and even a few Hollywood superstars.

This ensures that close links are maintained with the wider community and any issues or problems are identified at an early stage and measures put into place to effectively tackle them. A total of 1850 pupils attend Carnoustie High School and its 6 feeder primary schools. Close links have been nurtured between these schools and local police officers who visit regularly to support pupils and staff alike. A comprehensive schools education programme is delivered by the local Community Liaison Officer. Other examples of partnership working within this policing section include the provision of facilities and opportunities for youngsters to engage in a wide variety of supervised activities within a safe environment. Since 2005, working alongside Angus Council's Community Learning and Development Service, local officers have organised dozens of outdoor activities such as gorge walking, canoeing, climbing, mountain biking and hill walking for youngsters to participate in free of charge during the school summer holidays. Needless to say, these have proved very popular. Monifieth Monifieth, historically a small rural village, has grown and evolved through major house building to a population of approximately 12,000. The Monifieth Policing area also takes in an extensive landward area reaching from the A92 out to the A90, and includes the Barry Buddon army camp, and the rural villages of Kellas, Wellbank, Duntrune, Kingennie, and the Ballumbie Castle Estate.

Click here for location map Opening Times Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday : 9.00am - 4.45pm Thursday : 10.00am - 4.45pm There is a telephone facility outside to call the Force Communications Centre for help and assistance Monifieth High School, with 1096 pupils, is fed from 4 primary schools of approximately 880 pupils, but also has an intake from the adjoining Dundee area. The area has 2 Community Councils and is a member of the Local Area Partnership network. Features of Monifieth are the Blue Seaway, located between 2 caravan parks, which offers free play facilities for young children. This area also gives access to the beach and a coastal path linking Monifieth to Dundee in the west and Carnoustie in the east. Within the landward area is the Wellbank Community Hall, where the ball sports facilities are excellent and the Kingennie leisure developments. The popular Angus Gateway shopping development is located close to the A92. Like Carnoustie, the Monifieth area is also home to golf courses, coastal outlooks and picturesque countryside. It is also highly popular with horse riders, walkers, joggers, cyclists and anglers. A good working relationship exists between the local police officers and all of the community groups and schools. In 2008, the Monifieth Police Station moved from Laird Street to join up with the Council Access Office in the High Street – which, coincidentally, was the original location of the Monifieth Police Station until the 1950s. |
