Tayside Police tartan

In May 2004 Tayside Police became the first Force in Europe to register their own tartan.

The new corporate tartan, designed by band members, was unveiled at the Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel at the annual conference of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland.

The colours used in the tartan are taken from the Tayside Police crest. The subtle red hue in the foreground is that of the 'Hunting Menzies' tartan previously worn by Tayside Police Pipe Band. The black and navy blue are the predominant colours of the tartan, which identifies it as a police tartan, and the slight use of gold is taken from the crown at the top of the Scottish Police Service crest. The white stripe signifies the chequered band from the police cap.

The tartan has been registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority and the World Tartans Register.
