A 34-year-old man has been charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal following the attempted murder of a female police officer in Dundee this afternoon.

The 34-year-old uniformed officer and two male colleagues were attending a call within a flat in the Methven Walk area of Lochee at around 2.30pm when the incident took place.

The man responsible was immediately restrained and a further four officers attended to give assistance.

The injured police officer was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where she received treatment for a head injury. She is expected to be released later tonight.

The 34-year-old man is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court tomorrow.
