Tayside Police
Senior Investigating Officer Appointed to Oversee Missing Person Enquiry

11-04-2008

Tayside Police have appointed a Senior Investigating Officer to oversee the enquiry into missing Monifieth woman Linda Hill.

Detective Chief Inspector John Caughey will co-ordinate the enquiry from Divisional Police Headquarters in Forfar where the HOLMES team are collating all the information relating to her disappearance.

DCI Caughey said,

‘‘The public response to appeals that we have put out in the media has been very encouraging.  Only yesterday we received information from a member of the public that at around 7am on Sunday morning they saw what is believed to have been a person standing in the water in an area of the beach in front of the caravan park.

‘‘It’s therefore crucial that we identify this person. If you were in the area and you think it may have been you, or if you saw anyone in the water, please get in touch with us.’’

Officers will be in the Monifieth area this weekend carrying out a poster and leaflet drop in a bid to uncover more information about Linda’s disappearance.  They will also be at Riverview Caravan Park speaking to any residents and visitors who may only use the park at weekends.

Linda is 5ft 2in, of medium build with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a tattoo of a dolphin on her right shoulder blade. She is believed to have been wearing a white shirt, a blue two-tone Regatta jacket and dark coloured trousers.

Anyone who has seen Linda since 6.45am on Sunday 6 April, or anyone who knows her current whereabouts, should get in touch with Tayside Police in Angus on (01307) 302200 or speak to an police officer.
