31-03-2008Tayside Police is pleased to confirm the promotion of Superintendent Arron Duncan to the rank of Chief Superintendent.
Arron was born in Arbroath and educated at primary and secondary schools in Carnoustie.
He joined Tayside Police as a cadet in 1978, becoming a Police Constable in January 1980 and carrying out beat duties in Eastern Division (Angus) until 1983. He then transferred to Eastern Division’s Road Policing Unit where he worked for five years.
He was promoted to sergeant in 1988 and posted to Montrose for two years before a further two years based at Recruitment and Training in Dundee.
In 1992, Arron enrolled at the University of Abertay in Dundee – sponsored through a Scottish Executive funded project – graduating four years later with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies.
In 1996 he was promoted to Inspector and returned to Montrose for two years before transferring on promotion to Chief Inspector to Central Division (Dundee). Between 2000 and 2002, Arron was based within operational support and then was Tayside’s Head of Road Policing before being promoted to the rank of Superintendent and being posted to Inspection and Best Value.
In 2004 Arron was appointed Deputy Divisional Commander in Dundee and last year was posted as head of the Force’s Professional Standards.
On promotion Chief Superintendent Duncan is appointed as Divisional Commander of the Force Information and Intelligence Department.
Arron is married with two teenage daughters and the family lives in the Forfar area.
In his spare time Arron enjoys golf, curling and spending time with his family. |
