The home of Montrose Football club is Links Park, situated at the end of Wellington Street, which is geographically very much in the centre of the town and surrounded by residential streets. Map ref. 720582

THE GROUND

There is no permanent segregation in the ground and most of the turnstiles are situated at the Wellington Street end but there is a car park (not for public parking) on the south side and there are further turnstiles at the east end of this side past the main stand.

The only seated area is the stand, which is accessed once inside the ground, and for which an additional payment is required. There is a strict no smoking policy in force. The ground is covered by the SFA regulations and there are no other special conditions applicable.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

Running through the town is an area known as the 'Mid Links' which is an area of parks bounded on both east and west sides by streets and criss-crossed by several smaller roads and paths.

The ground in Wellington Street, which is a cul-de-sac, is situated to the east of the 'Mid Links'.

The A92 Dundee to Aberdeen road runs through Montrose on its west perimeter and is well away from the ground.

From the west

Drivers approaching from the west on the A934 will merge with those travelling north on the A92 and all will then enter the town by passing under a railway viaduct and immediately encountering a large roundabout. They should leave at the first exit onto Rossie Island Road, with Bridgend Garage on the left, and continue northwards across the river to the mini roundabout.

There are numerous permutations of roads which will lead from this point to the ground, but motorists are recommended to turn sharp right into Wharf Street which runs along the north bank of the river. Then take the second turning on the left into Hill Street, and continue to the 'give way' at the junction with Ferry Street.

Go straight ahead at this junction then follow this road till they pass the Park Hotel on their left side then take the next small road on the right, to the opposite side of the park then into Wellington Street.

From the north

Drivers approaching from the north on the A90 dual carriageway may chose to use the A937 road through Marykirk, or continue to Brechin, then use the A935 to reach the north end of Montrose.

Using either route or the A92 coastal route will bring all drivers to the set of traffic lights in Northesk Road at the junction with Brechin Road. From Marykirk or the coast road continue straight ahead and from Brechin turn right and all should continue southwards in Northesk Road till they sight a roundabout.

There are numerous permutations of roads which will lead from this point to the ground but motorists are recommended to look for an 'entry only' road on the left immediately before the roundabout.

Drivers should take this turning which leads to Rosehill Road and continue to the 'give way' junction with Mount Road then go straight over and take the next road on the right which is Dorward Place.

Continue southwards and then take the second road on the right, to the opposite side of the park then into Wellington Street. For normal matches there will be ample on street parking available outwith the areas marked with no waiting cones which in this instance is the whole length of Wellington Street.

Larger matches such as cup ties against Premier league teams where a considerable travelling support is anticipated will have the traffic routes well sign posted and special parking restrictions will apply which will also be sign posted.

RAIL TRAVELLERS

Montrose is served by the main east coast railway line which runs from Perth to Aberdeen. The station is on the west side of the town with the water of Montrose Basin to one side, so to find the town centre it is only necessary to walk away from the water.

Those arriving by train should leave the station and make their way towards the town centre. At the roundabout at the station exit, cross over Basin View then go right, to the first turning on the left which is Hume Street and follow this to the High Street.

Cross over and bear slightly left to find either New Wynd or John Street which will lead down to the Mid Links area of open parks. Turn left until past the Park Hotel on the left side, then take the next turning on the right, to the opposite side of the park, and into Wellington Street.
