The home of Arbroath Football Club is Gayfield Park, which is situated at the junction of Dundee Road and Queens Drive on the very southern side of the town, map ref. 637401 and indeed the south edge of the park backs onto the shore and the North Sea. Dundee Road forms one part of the A92 Dundee to Aberdeen coastal route which runs through the centre of the town as a dual carriageway.

THE GROUND

The position of the ground means that the terracings are exposed to the elements and spectators often have to endure some extremes of cold and wind. Extra warm clothing is advised when spectating at this ground during winter months. All of the turnstiles are on the north side of the ground with a broad pavement area in front, which is separated from the dual carriageway by a crash barrier.

The ground is segregated internally by way of metal gates which can be closed and locked when necessary however for normal games this is not in use and spectators can chose where to stand in the ground.

The only seated area in the ground is the stand, which is accessed once inside the ground, and for which an extra admission charge is required. At the present time, smoking IS permitted here.

From the north

Drivers approaching from the north will enter the town travelling southwards on the A92 and should follow the signs for Dundee.

After entering the 30mph limit they will continue south on Montrose Road, Culloden Terrace, Fisheracre and Grant Road till they reach a roundabout, then continue straight ahead on the dual carriageway which becomes Burnside Drive, Ladyloan then Dundee Road.

After negotiating several sets of traffic lights and pedestrian crossings on the dual carriageway they will see the harbour and signal tower museum to their left then the ground will be apparent a few hundred yards further on. Immediately past the ground turn left into Queens Drive, where for normal matches, ample on street parking is available outwith the area marked with No Waiting Cones.

From the south and west

Drivers approaching from the south/west will enter the town travelling eastwards on the A92. At the junction with Westway on the left (and McDonalds) they will encounter a mini roundabout but should continue straight ahead then at the next mini roundabout turn sharp right under the railway bridge.

Approx 100 yards further on, turn right (immediately before the Seaforth Hotel) into Queens Drive, where for normal matches ample on street parking is available outwith the area marked with No Waiting Cones.

Larger matches such as cup ties against Premier league teams where a considerable travelling support is anticipated will have the traffic routes well sign posted and special parking restrictions will apply which will also be sign posted.

RAIL TRAVELLERS

Arbroath is served by the main east coast railway line which runs from Perth to Aberdeen. Those arriving by train should exit the station up a flight of stairs and emerge onto Keptie Street and turn left down the hill. Take the third turning on the right into Millgate Loan, and continue walking till the ground comes into view on the opposite side of the dual carriageway.
