Ms Justine Curran was appointed Chief Constable for Tayside in February 2010. She has previously served as Deputy Chief Constable
since joining the Force in February 2009.
Justine joined Greater Manchester Police in 1988 and she served in various postings including the regional crime squad and eventually became the Chief Inspector in Manchester city centre before moving to Merseyside Police as Superintendent. Justine was in charge of the Operational Support Unit for the Force, commanding high-profile events such as the Grand National race meeting. She then became the Operations Superintendent in the difficult inner city area of Toxteth. In 2003 Justine returned to Greater Manchester Police as Divisional Commander for Manchester city centre. This is a very large and challenging inner city division which also hosted many high-profile football matches and events which Justine took command of, such as England internationals and the Labour Party conference. In February 2007 Justine was appointed as Assistant Chief Constable for Greater Manchester Police heading up territorial divisions and leading on the development of local policing in Neighbourhood Policing and Citizen Focus. She was the lead for public order, football and events, taking the role of Gold Commander for the UEFA Cup Final when there was significant disorder. She later also took on responsibility for the Counter Terrorist Unit. Justine is on the ACPOS business areas for Performance Management, Diversity and Business Change. |
