PROJECT ARGUS

Project ARGUS is a National Counter Terrorism Security Office initiative exploring ways to aid businesses to prevent, handle and recover from a terrorist attack.

Project ARGUS highlights the importance of being prepared and having the necessary plans in place to help safeguard staff, customers and company assets.

Events are free and take attendees through a realistic terrorist attack using a multimedia DVD presentation. A series of challenges and questions will also be posed to individual attendees and syndicate groups.

The simulation provides attendees with a unique opportunity to learn from and contribute to valuable information helping them to protect themselves, their business and community, whether they work in a national chain or a small business.

More information about Project ARGUS events in the Tayside area can be found here.

Further information can be found on the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) website.

BUSINESS FRAUD ADVICE

Long Firm Fraud (also known as 'Consumer Credit Fraud') is criminal activity whereby a company is temporarily set up, supported by fake references, so that it can trade on credit with wholesale suppliers, where there is no intention to pay for the goods supplied. By such actions the maximum goods are obtained over the maximum credit period and the criminals duly abscond with the proceeds.

The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) has produced a leaflet which offers advice to businesses within the wholesale supply sector, with a view to reducing their exposure to the crime of 'Long Firm Fraud'.
