The unit is responsible for policing the county's main roads, attending serious road accidents and supporting the work of the four policing sections.
They contribute to a number of policing operations designed to tackle dangerous, inconsiderate and anti-social driving. These include :
Operation DIAS (Driving In Angus Safely)
This operation targets speeding, misuse of mobile phones, seat belts and drink driving.
Operation Mermaid
This is a multi-agency operation, which tackles offences committed by Heavy Goods Vehicles.
