This information has been drawn together to give you, your family and your business basic instruction about how to prepare for and what to do in a civil emergency situation.

The emergency services, your local authority, Scottish Government and the other responders are trained and equipped to deal with all kinds of emergencies – the team is ‘Ready’.  If the emergency is serious and affects many people, they will be very busy and so you should be able to help yourself, and others, where you can. You may hear of the term Community Resilience being used to describe helping yourself and others to plan, prepare for or respond to an emergency – in other words

If you need urgent assistance in an emergency you should always call 999 and follow instructions. But there is a lot you can do now to prepare yourself, your family, your home or business for emergencies and disruptive events.
