Firearms and Shotgun Administration
The Firearms Administration Office deals with the administration of the Firearms Acts 1968 – 1997 and associated legislation, as it relates to the issue of firearm and shotgun certificates and other associated certificates/permits and registrations.
The office also deals with the issue of explosives certificates and registrations in accordance with the Control of Explosives Regulations (COER) and the Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations (MSER).
The Tayside Police firearm administration policy is founded on ensuring that public safety is not compromised.
Our work includes full and diligent enquiry into each applicant and application. This enquiry inevitably takes time to ensure that those who are issued with certificates, permits, etc. are suitable and their acquisition, possession and use of firearms is legitimate.
