Ensure Sufficient Illumination is Available

Do you require additional lighting?

  • Will your system only be of use during daylight hours? Will there be sufficient natural light to provide you with a clear picture? If no to either or both of these questions, you must consider lighting for the CCTV System.
  • Most cameras can work down to low light levels, however, the greater the light that is available, the better the quality of picture. It may be that internally, during daylight hours additional lights may need to be switched on to ensure that there are no 'dark' areas on screen. If cameras are used externally, ensure that sufficient levels and 'quality' of illumination is achieved. 'White' light provides the best quality of illumination during the hours of darkness. This ensures the 'spectrum' of colours can be identified.
  • Where required cameras are available that record in colour during the day but revert to infra red during the hours of darkness.
