Crime Prevention
The prevention and detection of crime are the basic core functions of every police force. However, these functions should not be seen as being the responsibility of the police alone. We all have a role to play and we should all do our bit to minimise the possibility that we become a victim of crime.
For the most part, crime in Scotland is committed against property, not people. Crime is often carried out on the spur of the moment when criminals take advantage of opportunities that are presented to them, for example, an unlocked car, a house with a window or door left open or personal property left unattended.
This section of our website contains simple crime prevention advice that we hope you and your family will find interesting and useful.
