Headquarters Division

HQ Division is led by Chief Superintendent Craig Suttie and is responsible for providing a variety of support services to the rest of the Force.

 
Force Communications Centre

Within this division is the Force Communications Centre (FCC), very often the community's first point of contact with the police. The FCC is under the command of Superintendent David Tonks.

 
Professional Standards

Also part of HQ Division is the Force's Professional Standards Department, led by Superintendent Ewen West. The department examines and investigates any complaints about police officers and staff, whether criminal or misconduct matters, on or off duty.

 
Operational Support

The Operational Support Department is under the command of Superintendent Rick Dunkerley and is supported by Chief Inspector Sandy Bowman (Headquarters Road Policing) and Chief Inspector Delyth Cunnah (Emergency Planning and Protective Services).

This is the umbrella department for specialist support and protective services throughout the force area and works in support of front line policing operations in Tayside Police.

It comprises of Headquarters Road Policing Unit, Dog Section, Tactical Firearms Unit, Firearms Training, training and co-ordination of Public Order and Police Search, CBRN, VIP Planning, Emergency and Events Planning, Pipe Band and Headquarters Licensing.

Supt Dunkerley, Chief Inspector Bowman and Chief Inspector Cunnah are assisted by:

Inspector Paul Scobbie who is responsible for Emergency and Event Planning

and

Inspector Neil Anderson is responsible for Protective Services within Operational Support, which comprises of the following areas of responsibility -

  • Tactical Firearms Unit (TFU)
  • Firearms Training
  • Dog Section
  • Public Order
  • Police Search
  • Community Task Force
  • CBRN
  • VIP Planning
  • Pipe Band

Both Inspectors are assisted by a number of Sergeants who run the respective departments within the Operational Support area of business. 

Governance & Development

Also within Headquarters Division is the Governance and Development Department which comprises of various units, namely Business Change & Improvement, Performance & Planning, Business and Project Support, Force Projects and Corporate Communications.
